A Mod About Baking Soda adds baking soda as a craftable item, with volcanoes, a fire extinguisher and a soda bread recipe built around it.
What it does
Baking soda is obtained by mining trona ore, which drops it, and it can be combined with three wheat to produce soda bread. Volcanoes are crafted from stone, iron, vinegar and other materials. Dropping baking soda onto a volcano makes it erupt, and dropping a dyed item into one changes the colour of the eruption particles. The mod was entered in the ModFest 26 competition as a decoration and technology submission.
A fire extinguisher can be crafted from copper, a bucket, and a quartz block. Holding baking soda in the offhand extinguishes fires within a 5 block radius. Smelting a potion also appears among the recipes the mod adds.
Installation needs Fabric, and the mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it. Files are published for Fabric under the MIT License, which makes the mod open source. The latest Fabric file is 1.1.0 for 26.1.2, released on 2026-05-02, and builds exist for 26.1.1 and 26.1.2.

This mod is a submission to ModFest 26 "Animation, Affection, Academia!" of which I'm sure you can see which category it fits in. The main feature of this mod is of course, the aforementioned volcano, which you craft with stone, iron and vinegar (which is obtained by smelting any potion).
