Back in Classic
by NormalVibes
Back in Classic brings back features from older Minecraft versions, many of them removed beta features, and adds a few new ones to the current game.
What it does
Over the years Minecraft dropped many features from its beta and early releases. This mod restores a set of them, including instant bow shooting, the old combat rules, rose seeds and farmland behavior. Previously removed blocks and biomes are ported over as well, so worlds can use them again.
The mod needs Fabric API and runs on client and server, so the server and every player must install it. Its builds cover 1.16.5 – 1.20.4 and are released for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, though the author notes that Forge development became a hindrance and later work targets Fabric and Quilt. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source, issue tracker and wiki are public.
Key features
Instant bow shooting
Bows fire at full strength without the charge time used by current versions, restoring the earlier handling.
Old combat behavior
Combat follows the rules of earlier releases, which the author restores alongside the other returned mechanics.
Restored blocks and biomes
Beta-era blocks and biomes that were removed from the game are ported back so they can appear in new worlds.
Rose seeds and farmland
Rose seeds and farmland return with the behavior they had in older versions.

Who it’s for: Players who want older mechanics in a current Minecraft world, and server owners who want to offer them to a group.
