Baby Zombie and villager old model restorer

by Affenix Studios

Baby Zombie and villager old model restorer brings back the big-headed baby zombie, husk, drowned and villager models that were replaced in Minecraft 26.1.

What it does

The Tiny Takeover update in Minecraft 26.1 replaced baby zombies, baby villagers and their zombie villager variants with smaller models, with their own textures and armor. This mod reverts those changes and restores the look babies had before that update.

Visuals are the only thing that changes. Babies keep their vanilla size attributes and behavior, so the mod alters neither gameplay nor collision. Babies use the regular adult textures again, and the baby armor lines up with the restored models. The mod is a Fabric mod for client-side use and is published for the game versions shown on this card, with 1.0.0-26.3.x as the latest Fabric file for 26.3. It is open source under the MIT License and requires Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer.

Key features

  1. Classic baby zombie model

Baby zombies, husks and drowned use the big-head, big-eyed model from before the Tiny Takeover update.

  2. Baby villager and zombie villager

Baby villagers and baby zombie villagers return to the adult villager mesh scaled down, instead of the tiny models.

  3. Adult textures for babies

Babies use the regular adult textures again, so the 26.1 baby textures no longer apply.

  4. Gameplay unchanged

Hitboxes, scale attributes and behavior stay as in vanilla, so only the appearance of babies changes.

Use cases

Keeping the classic look

Players who prefer the big-headed babies from before 26.1 can keep that look on the supported versions.

Who it’s for: Players who prefer the classic baby mobs and client-side visual changes. Servers need no installation, since the mod changes only the client.

How it compares

Full comparison

Classic Villagers is open source under the MIT License, with Fabric files for 26.1.1 – 26.1.2, and it can run on a client, a server or both. Baby Zombies from snapshot-7 is client-side only under the MIT License and covers 26.2 – 26.3, so it does not reach 26.1. Old babies is also client-side only, but it is released under All rights reserved and covers the same range as this mod.

What the author says

In Minecraft 26.1 (the "Tiny Takeover" update), Mojang gave baby zombies, baby villagers and baby zombie villagers brand-new, hand-crafted "tiny" models, separate baby textures and new baby armor meshes. And honestly? In my personal opinion, the new tiny models look terrible. 😅 The big-headed, big-eyed classic…
