autotranslator

by li27744

With AutoTranslator installed, a NeoForge client can fill in missing Chinese language entries for other mods by sending them to an AI model the player configures.

NeoForgeClient or server, optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

AutoTranslator reads the language files of installed mods and, for each key that has no Simplified Chinese entry, asks an AI model to produce one. Cloud services need an API endpoint and key, while local models such as LM Studio work through a local address. The model name must be the exact identifier the provider uses, for example deepseek-chat or qwen2.5-7b-instruct. Generated entries are packed into a resource pack that takes effect right away, and an in-game screen opens the settings for the endpoint, key, model and local or remote mode.

Before a request goes out, the mod checks a local SQLite terminology database of common Minecraft terms, which keeps wording consistent and reduces API calls. Existing i18n resource packs are read first, so only the entries they still lack are sent. Whitelist and blacklist filters limit translation to chosen mods, and generation can be stopped at any time. The pack is written to a temporary file and moved into place atomically, so the game never reads an incomplete pack.

The mod is open source under the MIT License, is client-side and works on NeoForge for 1.21.1, with the latest file, 11.0.0, published on 2026-09-13. Either side can run it, and neither needs it.

Key features

  1. One-click AI translation

A single action starts translating the missing Chinese entries of installed mods.

  2. Terminology database

A local SQLite dictionary of Minecraft terms is queried before each request to keep translations consistent.

  3. Whitelist and blacklist

Filters restrict translation to specific mods or exclude others.

  4. Atomic pack replacement

Generated packs are written to a temporary file and moved into place, so incomplete reads are avoided.

Questions

Does AutoTranslator need an API key?

A key is needed for cloud services. Local models, such as those served by LM Studio, are configured through a local address instead.

Which model name should be entered?

The exact model identifier from the provider, for example deepseek-chat or qwen2.5-7b-instruct.

Does AutoTranslator have to run on the server?

No. Either side can run it alone, so the mod works on the client without a server install.
