Language Amend

by _p1nero

Language Amend is a Forge and NeoForge client utility that appends fallback languages when a selected language lacks a translation.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Many resource packs and mods ship translations for only some languages, so entries missing from the chosen language often fall back to English and break the reading experience. Language Amend hooks into Minecraft's language loading system and, whenever a configured language code is detected, injects one or more fallback languages into the current language list. Existing order is preserved and duplicates are avoided, so the merged list still respects the player's preferences.

The mod works quietly in the background without changing game files or assets, and it sits alongside other mods and resource packs without conflict. Its fallback chains are defined by the player in a configuration file, for example trying Literary Chinese after Simplified Chinese before reaching English. It is published for Forge and NeoForge only, as a client-side mod, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.11.

Key features

  1. Smart fallback

Fallback languages are added automatically when the selected language is missing an entry.

  2. Custom fallback chains

Players define which languages follow each other, such as Simplified Chinese before English.

  3. Non-destructive loading

The language list is merged at load time, so no game files or assets are edited.

  4. Duplicate-free merge

Appended languages keep the original order and skip any language already present in the list.

Use cases

Partial translations

A resource pack covers some languages well but leaves gaps, and the gaps fall back to a chosen second language instead of English.

Mixed-language modpacks

A modpack with translations from several sources can present one readable language, with missing entries filled from a configured chain.

Who it’s for: Players who run translated modpacks or resource packs with partial coverage, and who want a fixed order of fallback languages.
