Attributized Skills

by undertaker_j

Attributized Skills, a Forge mod, rebuilds the skill system of RPGSkillable with open-ended, configurable skills such as Dexterity, Endurance and Strength.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

The mod began as a conversion of Command Skills attributes and was later reworked from the ground up. Skills grant bonuses through attributes instead of potion effects, and the author describes the bonus scaling as incremental. Skills such as Vitality can be set to raise the generic max health attribute by a multiplier of the base value, so a fixed amount of health is added per level. Modpack developers can decide which skills give which bonuses and which modded attributes they affect.

Skill requirements can be applied to items in the game through commands, for example a Strength requirement on a sword, and changes to the configuration are sent to every player so the client reflects them without a restart. The full configuration and the GUI were overhauled, and the GUI now includes an animated background and a left-side panel that tracks progress. Attributized Skills is compatible with mods that add attributes, and it has full compatibility with Iron's Spells, including spell requirements set through a command.

The mod runs on Client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Forge only, for the 1.19.2 and 1.20.1 game versions, and the latest file is 1.2.0 for 1.20.1. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Configurable skill bonuses

Each skill can be set to give chosen attribute bonuses, with base multipliers and flat additions applied to the final value.

  2. Command-based requirements

Skill requirements can be attached to items and spells through commands, without editing server permissions.

  3. Live config updates

A changed configuration is sent to all players, so their clients reflect the new bonuses without rejoining.

  4. Modernized skill screen

The GUI was rebuilt with an animated background and a left-side panel that shows tracked skills.

What the author says

Attributized Skills set out with the initial goal of converting Command /Skills into attributes. But the entire implementation was dated, so instead, the entire system was reworked from the ground up. Skills, like Dexterity, Endurance, Strength, etc - are now attributes and can be modified by attribute additions…
