Asteroid

by moxvallix

Asteroid is a Fabric client mod that bundles a set of utility modules for players on any server or in single-player worlds.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.5 – 26.2

What it does

The mod is built as a utility client with only utilities in it. Features such as freecam, fullbright, auto tool and better inventory remain, while the modules that the fork it descends from was built around are removed. Tracers and x-ray are also absent, since they need operator rights in single-player to work.

Several modules automate routine actions. Auto Clicker runs a timer that clicks for the player, Auto Replenish refills tools, food and hotbar slots when they run out, and Auto Respawn presses the respawn button after death. Fake Player spawns a fake player that exists only on the client, which gives a way to test or pose for screenshots. Name Protect hides the username and skin, so a screenshot does not reveal the account.

Asteroid is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is published for Fabric only. Its files target the game versions listed on its project page, across 18 release versions, and the latest Fabric file, 0.4.1, is for 26.2. Only the client needs the mod, so servers run without it. The project is developed by moxvallix and has a public source code repository, an issue tracker and a wiki.

Key features

  1. Auto Clicker

A timer clicks on the player's behalf, which the mod describes as useful for mob grinding.

  2. Auto Replenish

When a tool, food item or hotbar slot is used up, a matching item from the inventory takes its place.

  3. Auto Tool

The correct tool is selected automatically when the player starts mining a block.

  4. Better Farming

Manual crop farming gets quality-of-life changes such as easier replanting and harvesting.

  5. Middle click extras

The middle mouse button can be bound to use a firework rocket, an experience bottle or to add a friend.

  6. Name Protect

The username and skin are hidden on screen, which suits taking screenshots without leaking the account.

What the author says

I have made this fork as I believe that the user experience of utility clients is rather nice, with their modular approach to UI and configuration. I have found that I often install Meteor client purely to use it's less anarchy-style features, in my own worlds, and I wished I could add the mod to my modpack here on…
