Artifacts
by ochotonida
Artifacts is a set of treasure items for exploring worlds, most placed in a few chests across vanilla structures, each with a unique equipped model.
What it does
Artifacts adds a set of items that cannot be crafted and must be found. Most turn up in chests inside vanilla structures and through archaeology, and a few are very rarely worn by entities. Each artifact has only a few chests where it can be found, so a world rewards travel and searching.
A new underground campsite structure adds mimics, which sit where a chest would otherwise be and attack players who come too close. Killing a mimic always drops a random artifact. Cloth Config API, Curios API and Trinkets Updated are optional dependencies, and the MIT License covers the open source code. Builds ship for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 14 release versions.
Key features
Uncraftable treasure items
Every artifact has to be found in the world, so the items stay rare and tied to exploration.
Chest and archaeology loot
Artifacts can be found in chests inside vanilla structures and through archaeology digs.
Underground campsites
A new campsite structure generates underground and holds mimics in place of some chests.
Unique equipped models
Each item has its own model when worn, so the equipped look differs from one artifact to the next.
Mimic drops
Defeating a mimic always yields a random artifact as its drop.
