Armor Is Better is a Fabric game mechanics mod that gives armor pieces 14 custom enchantments, a chance to deflect mob damage and a set bonus.

What it does

Fourteen armor enchantments cover combat, defense, utility, meta, amplifier and curse categories, and enchanted armor can take part in the base armor mechanic. Each armor piece has a chance to deflect mob damage that depends on its material tier, from 2% for leather up to a fixed value per piece. A full netherite set reaches a 48% dodge chance against mobs.

The Fabric build runs on Minecraft 26.1.2 and is listed under the 1.21.11 – 26.1.2 range, with the latest file for 1.21.11. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The license is All rights reserved, so the code is not open source. The mod supports enchanting table villagers.

Key features

  1. Combat enchantments

    Charged absorbs incoming damage into stored energy that can be released with G as a ranged shockwave, with three levels.

  2. Vampiric lifesteal

    Vampiric heals part of the melee damage dealt back to the wearer, up to a 100% lifesteal cap across three levels.

  3. Plating and resistance

    Plating raises knockback resistance on each worn piece until a wearer cannot be moved, and Resistant reduces flat damage with full immunity at level 5.

  4. Hot and stacking damage

    Hot burns anything touching the wearer and auto-smelts nearby ore drops, while armor pieces add melee damage up to +15 hearts through attribute modifiers.
