Appliances

by Aegis Architectum

Appliances, a Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1, adds gadgets, machines, items and gameplay mechanics that stay close to vanilla principles.

ForgeClient and serverCustom license1.20.1

What it does

The mod adds a set of machines and devices, each built to perform one specific task, and several of them can be switched off or tuned in the config. Energy use and coolant use can each be disabled, so a machine can run without either resource. Processing sounds for starting, stopping, opening and closing can be turned off one by one, while a soothing hum can be kept on.

Hoppers and item or fluid pipes can feed the machines, and a comparator reads their output the way it reads a chest. The inventory size is configurable, and the GUI adapts itself: when energy or coolant features are disabled, their bars and panels are hidden. Whitelists and blacklists accept item tags, which lets server owners control what each machine accepts.

The mod is aimed at modded hardcore survival play, and its options cover fridges and freezers, a water condenser with a configurable tank that can hydrate farmland, and a sink. It also includes configurable landmines. Its files are built on the Spoiled mod as an optional dependency, so Spoiled can be installed for the extra content it supplies, though the mod does not need it to run. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Key features

  1. Configurable energy and coolant

Energy use and coolant use can be disabled per machine, so a device runs without either resource.

  2. Separate processing sounds

Start, stop, open and close sounds for processing can each be disabled, and a soothing hum can stay on.

  3. Pipes, hoppers and comparators

Hoppers and item or fluid pipes feed the machines, and a comparator reads their output like a chest.

  4. Adaptive interface

The GUI hides the energy bar or coolant panel when the matching feature is disabled.

  5. Tag-based filters

Whitelists and blacklists use item tags, and the inventory size can be set in the config.

Does the server need Appliances?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Can energy use be turned off?
