Apocalyptic Fortress
Apocalyptic Fortress changes Nether fortresses in Forge 1.19.2, adding more complex interiors, exterior features and interactive blocks that affect gameplay.
What it does
The overhaul targets the visual side and layout of Nether fortresses, and expands the area that players can explore. Many decorative blocks do something in play, and some wither skeletons carry bows instead of stone swords. Certain additions change difficulty noticeably, such as a fortress beacon that grants resistance to the mobs around it while stripping fire resistance from players.
Fortress chests hold the common items found in vanilla Nether fortresses, and some fortresses have a locked dungeon chest that holds a blaze key. Netherite scraps, Netherite ingots and wither skeleton skulls are among the rewards. Apocalyptic Fortress cannot start without Geckolib on Forge, and the author suggests a Geckolib build from version 3.1.36 onward for 1.19.2. It is published for Forge with a single file, version 0.0.1, for 1.19.2, and it is released under the MIT License without being open source.
Key features
Interactive fortress blocks
Most decorative blocks in the fortress have a function that connects them to the gameplay of the structure.
Beacon with adjustable range
Right-clicking with a lava bucket raises the beacon's effective range, and a water bucket lowers it, consuming the liquid in each case.
Blaze key dungeon chest
A blaze key, found in some fortress chests, opens a locked dungeon chest holding valuable fortress items.
Explosive barrels
Barrels explode instantly when a fire projectile hits them or when a redstone signal reaches them, and they are affected by gravity, exploding on the ground after falling.
Blaze core drops
Feeding blaze power to the beacon gives a 5% chance of dropping a blaze core.
