Animal Brush
by Tomokisan
Animal Brush lets a player right-click a tamed or farm animal with a brush to cycle it through its skin variants, and the animal keeps its name and equipment.
What it does
Holding the Animal Brush and right-clicking a supported animal moves it to the next skin variant available for its type. The tool is a single item with 20 uses, so reroll attempts stay limited. Particles appear when a variant change succeeds, which makes the result visible.
Thirteen or more animal types are supported, including felines, equines, llamas, foxes, hares, axolotls, amphibians, wolves, pandas, chickens, cows and pigs. Together they offer more than 100 variant combinations, and the mod keeps custom names, equipment and other entity data through each change. Crafting uses a modern recipe for Minecraft 1.20 and later.
The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across nine release versions, 1.19.4 – 1.21.11, and the code is covered by All rights reserved rather than a public-source license. Server owners can keep synchronization between clients and the server.
Key features
Skin variant reroll
A right-click cycles a supported animal through its available skin variants without any other command.
Data preservation
Custom names, equipment and entity data stay intact when an animal changes variant.
Variant coverage
Felines, equines, foxes and other animals add up to 35 color and marking combinations in total.
Limited durability
The brush wears out after 20 uses, keeping rerolls from becoming free and unlimited.
Particle feedback
Successful variant changes show particles, so players can tell when the brush worked.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who keep animals on survival worlds or multiplayer servers and want a simple way to change how they look. Server owners who run modded servers also need it installed on their side.
How it compares
AutoTame is client-side only and is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, covering 1.14 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, so it changes nothing on the server. Ride it is a Fabric mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.11 that is client and server and released under the MIT License. No Farm Animal Variants is server required with an optional client and covers only 1.21.5.
