Always at night

by Pedro0508

Always at night gives a world a permanent night that alternates between a calm phase and a danger phase on a timer.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.20.1

What it does

The mod keeps the sun from rising, so the world stays in darkness. A timer splits the night into two alternating phases. During the calm phase hostile mobs do not spawn, and players can explore, build and gather resources without fighting. When the danger phase begins, hostile mobs spawn again and the player has to survive until the cycle returns to calm.

Once installed the mod handles the phase timer automatically, so no setup is needed for the cycle to run. It suits adventure maps and story-driven hardcore survival, where the shifting phases add tension and atmosphere without changing the core game mechanics. It is lightweight and has been adapted to work alongside most modpacks.

Files are published for Fabric, for 1.20.1 only, and the mod runs on both the client and the server. It requires Fabric API, and Indium is optional for optimization. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Permanent night

The sun never rises, so the world stays dark and the sky does not change between day and night.

  2. Calm phase

Hostile mobs do not spawn during the calm phase, giving players a window to explore and build safely.

  3. Danger phase

Hostile mobs spawn again during the danger phase, so players must stay alert and survive until calm returns.

  4. Timer-driven cycle

A timer system alternates the two phases, so the rhythm of safe and dangerous time runs without manual input.
