A Low Durability Warner

by mitja

A Low Durability Warner gives a player an on-screen alert when the item in the main hand is close to breaking.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.5

What it does

The mod watches the durability of the item held in the main hand. When that durability drops to a threshold, 10% of maximum by default, a clear alert appears on screen, giving the player a chance to repair or replace the item before it breaks. The warning covers the main hand only, so armor pieces and other equipped tools do not trigger it.

Losing a favorite pickaxe or sword in the middle of a cave or a fight is the situation the mod is meant to prevent. A warning gives time to switch to a spare tool, and the alert is simple, without extra menus or effects. Its settings are reachable from a Mod Settings Menu, and the default key is RIGHT SHIFT.

Low Durability Warner is released as a Fabric build for 1.21.5 and runs on the client alone. Nothing needs to be installed on a server, and the mod does not change gameplay on the server side, unless server rules prohibit client mods of this kind. It depends on no other mods, and the code is covered by the MIT License, which is not an open-source license.

Key features

  1. Main hand durability alert

The durability of the item held in the main hand is checked continuously, and an alert appears when it runs low.

  2. Adjustable threshold

The warning fires at 10% of durability remaining by default, and the threshold can be changed in the settings.

  3. Mod Settings Menu

Options are opened through a Mod Settings Menu, with RIGHT SHIFT as the default key.
