Advanced PvP Toggle

by Brassworks

Players who want controlled combat on a NeoForge server can use Advanced PvP Toggle, which lets each player switch PvP on or off with simple commands.

What it does

Advanced PvP Toggle is a lightweight NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that keeps PvP status in each player's hands without piling on complexity. Players enable or disable PvP with commands, manage exceptions for individual players, and see when another player has attacked them through small nametag icons. Protection can take effect after a configurable delay.

The server holds the core functionality, so the rules stay under server control and remain reachable through commands. Persistent PvP data is stored separately from the world on the server. Administrative commands, which require permission level 2, can force the PvP state of a player. Installation needs KotlinForForge on the server, and the mod is released under the MIT License as open source.

A graphical BrassUI management menu is entirely optional, and only clients that want it need the extra dependency. Players without the mod can still join, since the network channels are optional, and legacy clients using protocol version 1 keep icon support. The server must run the mod, while players may add it for the icons and menu.

Key features

  1. Per-player PvP toggle

Players enable or disable PvP with simple commands, and exceptions can be set for individual players.

  2. Nametag attack icons

Small icons beside nametags show whether another player has attacked, so the state is visible at a glance.

  3. Protection delay

A configurable delay sets how long it takes before PvP protection becomes active.

  4. Knockback protection

An optional setting protects players from knockback-only attacks, and blocked interactions can show configurable feedback.

  5. Administrative overrides

Admin commands force player PvP states, and the behavior is set in a server-side configuration file.

  6. Optional BrassUI menu

A graphical management menu opens with a pvp menu command when the optional BrassUI screen is installed, and a message appears if it is missing.
