Advanced Backups
by HeatherWhite
Backups of a world are taken on a schedule by Advanced Backups, which also provides a command-line restoration tool for recovering them.
What it does
The mod takes automatic backups of a world on a configurable schedule. Schedules can enforce a minimum or maximum time between backups, which helps with situations that cause repeated saves on local worlds. Differential or incremental backup modes are optional and aim to shrink backup size while keeping the same data. Configuration covers scheduling, logging and activity requirements.
Old backups are removed by one of three automatic purging options, so the owner decides when a backup is deleted. Commands can create protected copies that purging never removes. A command-line restoration tool is built into the jar, and helper scripts run it. Server owners can also manage the mod from the server console. The known issue with the end and nether dimensions being left out of backups is a documented limitation, and a fix is listed as in progress by the author.
Key features
Command-line restoration
A restoration tool built into the jar recovers a saved backup, with helper scripts for running it.
Differential and incremental backups
Optional modes store only changes between backups, reducing backup size while retaining the same data.
Three purging options
Automatic deletion of old backups can follow any of three rules, giving full control over removal.
Protected backups
Copies created by command are excluded from automatic purging and are kept until removed by hand.
Backup notifications
Client-side toasts report when a backup happens, and can be turned off on the client or server or limited to operators.
