A Better Foods adds classic desserts, regional Chinese dishes and food items with status effects to Minecraft, so meals can differ from the vanilla options.

What it does

Players can cook and eat a range of foods beyond the vanilla selection. The set includes apple pies in several tiers, a drinkable potion series and dishes grouped by region, such as Guangdong and Beijing specialties like rice noodle rolls, Peking duck and zhajiangmian. Some foods grant temporary status buffs such as Speed, Strength or Luck, and the mod is still under continuous development, with new foods and regional flavors planned.

Each dish has its own recipe. Basic foods craft at a crafting table, while the rarer ones need more complex recipes. Drinks are available through an advancement. The Enchanted Golden Apple Pie requires a Golden Apple Pie ringed by eight gold blocks. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, is open source under the MIT License, and builds exist for 1.12.2, 1.20.1 and 26.1.2 with 1.3.0 as the latest release. Both the server and every player need it, and JEI is recommended for browsing the recipes.
