Zones

by T14D3

Server administrators use Zones to protect regions of a Minecraft world, with permissions that control what players can do inside each area.

FabricMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.10

What it does

Zones lets server administrators create and manage protected regions inside a world. A region can be made from an in-game selection or from manual coordinates, and sub-regions can be placed inside existing regions for finer control. Each region carries detailed permissions that decide actions such as breaking blocks, and members can be added or removed with specific rights. Whether regions may overlap is configurable, and selected players can be allowed to bypass region restrictions. Messages and region settings are edited in configuration files.

The mod is a Fabric build that also works on Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur. Regions are shown to players with temporary beacons while they are selected, and the commands that handle creation and editing are listed in the command set. WorldEdit is used only to modify blocks, and only for a player who is allowed to change the region manually. Zones is distributed under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker public.

Key features

  1. Region creation

Regions are created from an in-game selection or from typed coordinates, and sub-regions can be added inside them.

  2. Permission and member control

Each region has its own permissions for actions such as breaking blocks, and members receive specific rights.

  3. Overlap and bypass settings

Administrators choose whether regions may overlap and grant selected players a bypass of region restrictions.

  4. Beacon visualization and placeholders

Selected regions are marked with temporary beacons, and PlaceholderAPI placeholders show the region a player stands in.
