You Thief!

With You Thief!, villagers and iron golems react when a player opens, places or breaks a chest in a village, and the reaction can spread through the settlement.

What it does

Villagers who see or hear a player opening a chest near them become angry, and the trade prices they offer rise. Iron golems in the same village attack as well. Placing, opening or breaking a player's own chest does not offend anyone. The location is detected only for villagers and golems in a village, so chests in the wild are unaffected.

Players who take things from a village may receive a bad luck debuff for a day. Milk removes the debuff, but not the anger. Some villagers may witness a theft and choose not to report it, so the outcome is not certain. The mod is built for survival worlds and multiplayer servers, where it can apply to every player on the server.

The mod requires only a server, and players need nothing installed to join. It is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, with the 3.3.1 file covering 1.18 – 1.20.1. The mod is not open source and is released under All rights reserved. Compatibility with the Lootr mod and with a villages data pack is noted by the author.
