Worn Horseshoes

Horseshoes can be enchanted with boot enchantments, and modded enchantments that apply to boots also work on them. The shoes render on the horse model with the enchanted glint. Each horseshoe type adds its own stat modifiers to speed, jump height and strength. A dedicated horseshoe enchantment adds knockback and lets a galloping horse trample enemies, at the cost of some durability. Horseshoes can be obtained from leatherworker villagers as an uncommon trade, and some villages have horses that already wear them.

Horse armor can be enchanted with helmet and chestplate enchantments, and the armor also renders with the glint. The mod targets horse types that were rarely used in vanilla, including donkeys, mules, llamas, skeleton and zombie horses, each with its own inventory slot. Enchantments such as protection give the horse extra survivability. Custom horse armor from BBLSOhMy is compatible.

Worn Horseshoes requires FermiumBooter. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the mod is released under the MIT License as open source. Files target 1.12.2 only, with 1.1.2.3 as the latest Forge file, published 2026-07-28.
