Wither Skull Overhaul changes how a Wither Skull is obtained, so players no longer depend on a single drop from Wither Skeletons.

What it does

Wither Skull Overhaul replaces the usual Wither Skull drop from Wither Skeletons with a Wither Skull Fragment, which players can combine into a Wither Skull by crafting. The change makes it simpler to gather the skulls needed to summon a Wither, which lets players move on to the fight without spending as long on the collection step. The mod runs on Fabric and needs Fabric API. It is open source under the MIT License and its source code is public. Files cover 1.21 and 1.21.1, with version 1.0.2 for 1.21.1 as the latest release, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player install it.

  1. Fragments replace skull drops

    Wither Skeletons no longer drop a full Wither Skull; they drop a Wither Skull Fragment instead.

  2. Crafting a skull from fragments

    Fragments are combined by crafting to make a Wither Skull, so collecting the skull takes less time.

    The Looting enchantment increases the rate at which Wither Skeletons drop fragments.
