Weirding Gadget

by atomicblom

Weirding Gadget is a Forge utility mod for keeping chunks loaded, with a placeable gadget that holds an area of the world active.

ForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.18 – 1.18.1

What it does

A single Weirding Gadget keeps a 3x3 area of chunks loaded, which covers about 48x48 blocks around it. Players can place it and use it as a chunk loader, and it can be turned off and on again by right-clicking it. On servers, the chunks it covers stay loaded while the owner of the gadget is offline.

The chunk loader deactivates after a player has been offline for a period of seven days, and the gadget then stops spinning. Any player can reactivate it by right-clicking it again. A redstone torch can be used to show the area the gadget affects, which helps when placing several gadgets.

The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. It works on Forge for Minecraft 1.18 and 1.18.1, and it must be installed on both the client and the server. Requirements for wearing the gadget as a head item are noted by the author, who also credits the art to Rorax.
