Villager Industries
Villager Industries turns villagers into workers, with professions that produce items and villages built from structures the player chooses.
What it does
Villagers take on jobs once a profession is assigned, and their work produces items over time. The professions cover food, materials, building and defense, and each one has levels that change the work a villager can do. Villages are assembled from structures such as a Townhall, Bedroom, Smithy, Mineshaft, Storage, Kitchen and Guardpost, and a player picks the right door for each house the village needs.
Villager Industries is a NeoForge mod for players who want to grow their own village rather than rely on the villages generated in a world. The author wrote the code from scratch, and the recipes can be adjusted in the same way other mod-recipe tools allow. Feedback and bug reports are welcome on the project's public wiki, which is one of the public links listed for the mod.
The server and every player need the mod installed. Files are published for NeoForge across 11 release versions, 1.21 – 1.21.10, and the latest file is 1.6.1-1.21.1 for 1.21.1. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Working villagers
Villagers with an assigned profession perform jobs that produce items, so a village can supply its own food and materials.
Profession levels
Each profession has levels, and advancing through them changes the work a villager can do.
Custom village structures
Structures such as a Townhall, Smithy, Kitchen and Guardpost can be placed to build a village layout of the player's choice.

How it compares
Profession Locking is a server-side only NeoForge mod released under the MIT License and is open source, built for 1.21.1. Guard Villagers - Autonomous Villager Defense is server-side only, covers Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and is not open source. Crafting Villager is client-side only, is not open source, and is published for 1.21.1 – 1.21.4, so it does not share Villager Industries' client and server environment.
