VaultFaster
VaultFaster is a Forge optimization mod that speeds up world generation for Vault Hunters vaults, and it runs on the server only.
What it does
Vault Hunters generates a new vault world each time a run starts, and that generation can be slow. VaultFaster targets this step alone, with one stated goal of making vault world generation faster. The author reports a performance gain of more than 40x, measured against chunks produced per second, from 5 chunks per second to about 390 and up to 440 with the modified setup. The author also notes that RAM speed has a significant impact on the result, and that a vault without tunnels, the span=0 case, is much more demanding; one test allocated 18GB of RAM.
Only the server needs VaultFaster, so players join without installing it and clients require nothing extra. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Installation requires Kotlin for Forge, which must also sit alongside it on the server. The files target Forge for 1.18.2 only, with 2.1.1 as the latest build, first published on 2024-03-16 and last updated on 2024-09-17.
