Ultimate Backport Mod, a Forge mod for 1.12.2, brings features from newer Minecraft updates back to the older version.
What it does
The project backports mechanics from later releases into 1.12.2 while keeping the look of the original game. Its feature set covers a command suggestion interface that offers autocomplete for commands, combat adjustments and quality-of-life changes, and mob configuration. Several mobs from community votes that never reached the game are also part of the plans, and the author says more will be added step by step.
Installation requires PathFinder API alongside the mod. Ultimate Backport Mod runs on client and server, so both sides need it. It is available for Forge only, with the latest build 1.3.0-beta.1 published on the beta channel on 2026-04-29. The mod was first released on 2025-07-17 and is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, with public source code, an issue tracker and a wiki. The author plans to extend the project to other older releases once the core development for 1.12.2 is complete.
