Tunneler TNT

by Maleficent20

Tunneler TNT adds a set of explosives to Fabric survival play, where a placed charge carves a straight tunnel in the direction it faces.

What it does

Tunneler TNT is a technology mod for Fabric that adds new TNT types next to vanilla TNT. A block of standard TNT works as before, while the Tunneler variants carve a tunnel forward from the direction they were placed, 16 blocks long with a radius of 4 blocks. The walls are shaped with a noise algorithm, so they look like rough cave passages rather than perfect cylinders. Ore Safety detects precious blocks such as ores, Ancient Debris, spawners and chests and leaves them standing, so the tunnel does not leave floating blocks or unexpected loss of valuables.

The new types are written as entities in the usual Fabric style and are layered over the normal TNT logic, so the code is simple to read and extend. Heavy Tunneler TNT is reinforced with extra gunpowder, and Tunneler TNT is directed with iron nuggets and gunpowder. The recipes stay hidden by default and become available once a player obtains a block of vanilla TNT. The mod runs with the client and the server, so the server and every player need it. It is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric only, for 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, with 1.0.0 for 1.21.11 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Directional tunnel carving

A placed charge carves a 16-block tunnel with a radius of 4 blocks, aimed along the direction it faces.

  2. Ore and chest protection

Precious blocks like ores, Ancient Debris, spawners and chests are detected and left in place as the tunnel is cut.

  3. Natural cave walls

A noise algorithm shapes rough walls instead of perfect cylinders, so the excavation resembles a cave.

  4. Adjusted explosion and fuse

The blast power is set to 7.0, nearly double vanilla TNT, and the fuse lasts 6 seconds, which gives extra time to clear the blast zone.
