Relics, a Minecraft mod by Special_TT, makes death drops safer by placing a player's items into a relic chest when they die, so the items are not destroyed.

What it does

When a player dies, the mod generates a relic chest holding the items from their inventory, which keeps those items from being destroyed on death. Only the owner can open the chest, and other players cannot take its contents. The chest is opened with a left mouse button press while holding the key, so access stays limited to the rightful owner.

The server must run the mod, while players may leave it out. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files cover 1.21.5 – 1.21.11 for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a data pack build is also published.

Key features

Death relic chest
On death, a chest is generated that preserves the items from the player's inventory instead of losing them.
Owner-only access
Only the player who owns the relic chest can open it, so other players cannot access the stored items.
Items kept, not destroyed
Inventory contents are placed in the chest rather than destroyed, so a death does not wipe out a player's gear.
