Holding the probe in hand shows the name and mod of the block being looked at, and TheOneSmeagle extends that readout with extra detail for many block types.
What it does
TheOneSmeagle is a fork of The One Probe that aims for a more immersive take on the WAILA and HWYLA style of tooltips. While the probe is held, the screen shows information about the block under the crosshair: its name, the mod it comes from and the tool that harvests it. Blocks that store RF energy also display the amount they hold, and blocks with an inventory, such as a chest, can list the items inside.
The fork adds readouts for specific blocks. Bookshelves show the enchantment power they provide, minecarts with inventories and mules show their contents, primed TNT shows the time left before it explodes, cauldrons show how much water they hold, jukeboxes show the disc that is playing and paintings show their names. Built-in compatibility with TOP is included, and every feature can be switched off in the config to suit a playstyle or modpack.
Installation needs Forge and the optional GroovyScript mod if scripted recipes are used. The One Probe is listed as incompatible, so it cannot be installed at the same time. The server and every player need the mod installed. Files are published for Forge 1.12.2 only, with 1.1.5 as the latest, released 2025-10-11, under the MIT License, which is not open source.
