by Pelarin11

The Mimic is a Forge horror mod for 1.20.1 that adds a stalking entity which copies players and follows them through the dark.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

The entity hunts the nearest player and copies that player's exact name, skin and equipped gear, which can confuse anyone who looks at it. It stays at a distance, tracks movements and shadows, and backs away to keep its space unless provoked. It appears in dark forests, deep taigas, deserts, mangrove swamps and caves below Y=0, where it lurks in absolute darkness.

A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Only Forge 1.20.1 files are published, with 1.2 as the latest build from 2026-09-13. The code is licensed as All rights reserved and is not open source.

  1. Identity theft

Instead of rushing in, the entity keeps a terrifying distance and tracks the player's movements and shadows.

  3. Natural spawns

It roams dark forests, deep taigas, deserts, mangrove swamps and caves below Y=0, lurking where darkness is absolute.
