SwordHitbox

by Zeffut

SwordHitbox shows entity hitboxes while a player holds a sword, as a client-side visual aid for PvP.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyCustom license1.21.9 – 26.2

What it does

While a sword is in hand, the mod draws vanilla-style hitboxes around nearby entities, interpolated so the boxes follow their motion. Players are shown by default, and a toggle can extend the display to mobs. Each element can be adjusted in the in-game configuration menu: the bounding box, the eye-level box, the look-direction line and the target highlight can each be switched on or off. Colors are set with ARGB pickers, and the line width and display radius can be changed as well.

The optional target highlight turns the entity under the crosshair red, and it is off by default. The rendering is purely visual and changes no gameplay, so the mod works on a server without any server-side install. It is built for Fabric and NeoForge across 6 release versions, 1.21.9 – 26.2, and the files for 26.2 and 26.1.1 are the most recent. The code is published as source with an issue tracker, under a custom license that is not open source.

Key features

  1. Hitboxes while holding a sword

The boxes appear only while a sword is held, and the mod targets any item in the minecraft:swords tag.

  2. Eye-level box and look line

An eye-level box and a look-direction line show where a player is aiming relative to the other entity.

  3. In-game configuration

Every element can be toggled and recolored from a menu inside the game, with ARGB color pickers.

  4. Optional target highlight

The entity under the crosshair can be drawn in red, and this highlight is off by default.

Use cases

PvP practice

Players use the boxes to judge reach and timing against opponents during sword fights.

Who it’s for: Players who want a visual aid during sword combat on clients, and who may run the mod on a server that they do not need to change.

Questions
