Spear Helper (Fork)
Spear Helper (Fork) is a Fabric client mod that swaps spears to a chosen slot in fast combat, and it is a fork of an older project maintained for newer Minecraft versions.
What it does
A bind key in the Controls menu switches the selected hotbar slot to a spear and back, which helps during lunges in player-versus-player fights where timing counts. The author states that swapping back after a lunge should not leave a cooldown stuck. Slots are sorted into good and bad groups: spears, swords, maces, axes and pickaxes are treated as useful, while food, golden carrots, wind charges and ender pearls are treated as slots to avoid. A spear with the Lunge enchantment, with Lunge III recommended, is needed for the lunge behavior to matter.
The mod requires Fabric API, and Java 21 or newer with Fabric Loader 0.18.6 or newer. It is a client mod: players install it, and a server does not need it. Files are published for 26.2 only, with 1.0.0 as the latest Fabric file, released 2026-08-15. The license is custom and the code is not open source, though public source code and an issue tracker are linked. Its author notes that the fork updates the original Spear Helper for Minecraft 26.2, and that players who prefer the original can use that instead.
