Soulscorch
by Nullcoil
Soulscorch, a Fabric mob mod by Nullcoil, adds soul-themed mechanics to Soul Sand Valley and a faster brewing stand.
What it does
Soulscorch changes the Soul Sand Valley biome and adds a reason to visit it instead of using only vanilla Soul Sand and Soul Soil. Stepping on Soul Fire, a Soul Campfire or Soul Slag applies an effect, and while the effect is active the player loses half a heart of maximum health at intervals. A Soulscorch cloud spawned by a Soul Charge also applies the effect. Piglins are afraid of the new blocks.
An upgraded brewing stand brews potions in half the time and keeps the usual brewing interface, minus the fuel bar; it is fueled with Blaze Powder. The mod is built around harvesting blocks that make up the biome, and the author notes it is meant to offer a challenge. Texture pack creators are named as an audience for the assets.
Soulscorch requires Fabric API. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files cover 1.21.1 – 26.3 across eight release versions, the latest being 1.3.4.1+26.3 for 26.3 on the beta channel. It is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 4.0 license and is not open source, though its source code is public.

What the author says
There's no reason to go to the Soul Sand Valley in vanilla other than to get Soul Sand and Soul Soil. This mod hopefully gives you a few reason, as well as a challenge to harvesting the blocks that make up the biome.
