Pianos are placed as blocks in the world. A player sits at the bench and plays notes from a computer keyboard, with 88-key support. Four models are offered, from a 61-key Baby Grand up to the 88-key Concert Grand and Upright Piano. Built-in songs and personal recordings can be played back, and performances can be saved as Sheet Music items. Blank Sheet Music lets a player write new scores.

The mod includes a metronome with a configurable BPM, a tuning fork, a piano hammer and a piano string as crafting items. Players can choose from many finishes such as Black, Mahogany and Ebony, plus ivory colors like Royal Blue and Ocean Teal, and a custom color option. Each piano can carry an optional custom name. In multiplayer, the mod can sync playing so other players hear the notes in real time.

Solvane & Sons - Play Piano In Minecraft is built for Forge, and its files cover 1.20.1 – 1.20.6. The latest file is 1.0.0 for 1.20.6, released in the beta channel. The mod needs both client and server, and it is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved. Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47 or newer is listed as the requirement. The author notes that the beta version may contain bugs.
