SmartSlot: The One-Stack Rule

by Saike05

SmartSlot limits each inventory slot to a single stack of 64 units, so a full stack of one item stops further copies of that type from filling the inventory.

ForgeClient or server, optionalAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.20.6

What it does

Players who gather a lot of cobblestone can see their inventory clogged with ten stacks of the same block. SmartSlot applies a one-stack rule: once a stack reaches its limit, additional items of that type are filtered out instead of taking more slots. The mod is a lightweight utility that works on Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, with files for each of the six release versions, and it runs on the client or the server, with neither side required. The license is All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Single-stack limit

Each inventory slot holds at most one stack of 64 units of a blocks or items type.

  2. Automatic filtering

After a full stack, extra items of the same type are filtered out rather than stored in new slots.

  3. Lightweight design

The utility adds only the one-stack rule and no new blocks, items or screens to the game.

Questions

Does SmartSlot need to be installed on the server?

No. Either side can run it, and neither the client nor the server needs it, so installing it on one side is enough.
