SmartMobs
by 00unk0wn00
SmartMobs lets ordinary mobs board and steer minecarts, boats and horses, so a zombie or skeleton can end up driving a vehicle.
What it does
Mobs in the game gain a simple AI layer that lets them detect nearby vehicles and interact with them. Once a mob notices a minecart, boat or horse, it can enter and take control, then use basic movement commands to navigate. The resulting paths are unpredictable, which is the point of the mod.
Different mob types show different vehicle preferences. A zombie may end up in a minecart, a skeleton may guide a horse and a creeper may pilot a boat, so each type produces its own kind of scene. Behavior is intended for single-player worlds and for multiplayer servers where players share the chaos.
SmartMobs is a Fabric mod, released under the Apache License 2.0, and its source code is open source. It requires Fabric API and runs on Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4 and 1.21.5, with the latest file for 1.21.5 dated 2025-03-27. The server needs the mod, while a client may leave it out.
