Simple Silver

by czachor0

Simple Silver adds a silver ore tier that sits above deepslate and is mined with the same tools as diamond, aimed at fights against undead.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20 – 1.21.3

What it does

Silver ore generates in the world at layers near Y=8 and can also be found in Nether Basalt Deltas. Silver tools and armor are crafted from silver ingots and blocks. Silver is very enchantable but slightly less durable than diamond, so its trade-offs are a choice rather than a clear upgrade.

Against undead, silver gear is meant to perform close to netherite: tools deal iron-level damage in general but netherite-level damage to undead, and armor adds extra protection and toughness against them. Enemies outside the undead take only iron-level damage from silver, which pushes players to think before they swing. The mod also adds a Hunger Resistance potion, so rotten flesh becomes usable food: with Hunger Resistance it works like bread, and with Hunger Resistance II it works like a good steak.

Installation needs either Forge or NeoForge, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Files are published for 1.20 – 1.21.3 across eight release versions, with 1.1.0-1.20.1 for 1.20.1 and 1.1.0-1.21.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest files. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Silver ore tier

A new ore that sits above deepslate, mined with the same tools as diamond and found in Nether Basalt Deltas.

  2. Silver combat gear

Silver tools and armor deal strong damage to undead and iron-level damage to other mobs.

  3. Hunger Resistance potion

A brewed potion that turns rotten flesh into a usable food with a clear hunger benefit.

  4. Enchantment and durability trade-off

Silver is very enchantable but less durable than diamond, so enchanting and wear are weighed against each other.

What the author says

Silver gear is as effective as netherite against undead mobs. Against other enemies, silver performs at iron-level strength, encouraging players to think before they swing. Moreover, silver trades a bit of durability for increased enchantability, adding further trade-offs. Since it's a diamond alternative, silver…
