Shutter Up!

by evanbones

With Shutter Up!, players can hang decorative shutters beside windows on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and open or close them with a right-click.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverCustom license1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Shutters in this mod work like trapdoors, but they are built for window decoration. A shutter opens and closes on a right-click, and its custom models react to the blocks around it, so the shutter changes shape to match its surroundings. Shutter variants are added for every vanilla wood type, including Dark Oak and Crimson and Warped, and the default set follows those wood types.

Installation runs on client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Pale Oak shutters require Vanilla Backport. When Every Compat (Wood Good) is installed, it adds shutters for wood types from other mods automatically, so no extra setup is needed; it is an optional dependency. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the code is covered by a custom license that is not open source.

Key features

  1. Decorative shutters

Shutters are added as a decorative block for window framing, built to function like trapdoors.

  2. Right-click control

A right-click opens or closes a shutter, which lets players adjust a building's look without extra tools.

  3. Vanilla wood variants

Each vanilla wood type gets its own shutter, including Dark Oak, Crimson and Warped.

  4. Reactive models

Custom models respond to surrounding blocks, so shutters adjust their shape to the blocks next to them.
