Reliable Recipes

by evanbones

Modpack makers who want recipe and tag changes without scripting can use Reliable Recipes, a utility that reads JSON files from a reliable recipes folder.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.2 – 26.3

What it does

Each JSON file dropped into the folder holds filters that select recipes, and an action property says what to do with the selection. Filters must all match a recipe before it is changed. Standalone recipe JSON, such as crafting, smelting, stonecutting or brewing, can be placed there as well, without building a datapack.

The mod is open source under the MIT License. Both client and server need it, and it requires Fabric API. Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are optional. Reliable Remover requires it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with game versions 1.19.2 – 26.3 and 3.6.0 as the latest build. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from the project.

Key features

  1. Recipe removal and replacement

Matching recipes can be deleted outright, have their ingredients swapped for other items or tags, or have their output changed.

  2. Tag clean-up

Tags can be stripped from items, specific items can be removed from a tag, or a tag can be emptied entirely.

  3. Repair control

Items can be blocked from repair, and the Anvil repair material for a tool or weapon can be overridden.

  4. Recipe addition

New recipes can be added for any vanilla or modded recipe type, with no datapack needed.

  5. Transmute crafting

A backported minecraft:crafting transmute type converts items in a crafting grid and keeps their components, such as durability and enchantments.

Questions

Does Reliable Recipes need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency, so it must be installed alongside the mod.

Does a server need Reliable Recipes installed?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Do recipes need a datapack to be added?

No. Recipe JSON placed directly in the reliable recipes folder is loaded automatically, and a wrapper action can add recipes as well.
