Seigniorage

by Ratonimo

Seigniorage lets server owners and players create custom currencies, with coins, bills and the means to issue and move them through a server economy.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.21.1

What it does

A currency is defined by a unique name, a three-letter code, a unit name and a four-by-four symbol. Each currency can be given its own denomination set, with coins and bills whose appearance can be customized. Currency Desk is the block where issuance orders are processed, so physical money items are created in a controlled way. Economy data is tracked as well, including the total issued and the total decommissioned value of each currency.

Physical money is handled with Wallets, Safes and Netherite Safes, which store and carry coins and bills between players. Player transactions run through a Voucher and Cash Register payment flow, and a Currency Desk can be placed and opened by players or staff. The mod is aimed at server tools for player-run economies, faction currencies and roleplay economies, where the value of a currency is set by the people who use it. It is published for NeoForge only, for Minecraft 1.21.1, and is released under the MIT License, though it is not open source. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Key features

  1. Custom currencies

Create a currency with its own name, three-letter code, unit name and four-by-four symbol.

  2. Denomination sets

Design coins and bills for each currency, with customizable appearance for every denomination.

  3. Currency Desk orders

Issuance orders placed at the Currency Desk turn real money items into a currency under the server's control.

  4. Wallets and safes

Wallets, Safes and Netherite Safes store and transport physical money between players.

  5. Voucher payments

Player transactions use a Voucher and Cash Register flow, so payments pass between players in a defined way.
