SCP-017, Shadow Person

SCP-017, Shadow Person, is a Forge mob that brings a small humanoid anomaly from the SCP universe into the overworld, where it spawns only in dark areas.
What it does
Players meet the creature in dark places, where it stalks nearby players and gives off black smoke particles. Bringing light close to it makes it emit even more smoke and extinguishes nearby torches. When angered, its glowing eyes show and its smoke output grows, and attacking it causes it to swell in size and spread a cloud of status effects over the surrounding player, among them Blindness, Darkness and Weakness. Its low health is paired with high damage, and it regenerates and shrinks back to normal size after it kills an entity.
The mod is created with MCreator and made by Zcoper, and it requires Geckolib to run. The mob is a Client and server mod, so the server and every player need it. Files exist for Forge only, across three game versions: 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1, with 1.0.0 for 1.20.1 as the latest file, released on 2026-06-08. The mod is not open source and is licensed as All rights reserved.
Key features
Dark-area spawning
The creature appears only in dark areas of the overworld, and only one instance of it exists at a time.
Light reaction
Exposure to light makes it emit more smoke and extinguish nearby torches, a clear counter to lit camps.
Angered state
When provoked, glowing eyes appear and the smoke it gives off thickens around the attacker.
Debuff smoke cloud
Its attack swells the creature and spreads smoke that applies several status effects to the victim.
