Remember My Txt
by DuncanRuns
When Minecraft is updated and a mod is missing, Remember My Txt keeps unrecognized entries in options.txt, such as custom keybinds, from being erased.
What it does
Remember My Txt is a Fabric mod that runs on the client only. Right after Minecraft loads options.txt, the mod copies every entry into a separate set of unaccepted options held in memory. Each entry that Minecraft actually reads is removed from that set. The remainder is the list of values Minecraft would otherwise drop, and when the game writes options.txt again, those values are written back alongside the recognized ones.
The problem it addresses is a common one during version updates. An option such as a keybind added by Xaero's Minimap disappears from the file when that mod is absent during a launch, and players waiting for a port lose the setting. Here the mod is open source under the MIT License, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Files are published for Fabric, and the latest file is v1.0.4+MC26.1.2 for 26.3, dated 2026-05-13.
Key features
Reads options.txt at startup
The mod captures every entry in options.txt as soon as Minecraft loads the file.
Tracks unused values
Entries that Minecraft reads are dropped from the tracked set, leaving only values the game does not use.
Writes unused values back
When Minecraft saves options.txt, the unused entries are written back into the file with the recognized ones.
Keeps custom keybinds
Keybinds from mods that are not installed survive a launch, so they are still present when the mod returns.

Use cases
Waiting for a mod port
Players who update Minecraft before every mod has a build can keep the settings of missing mods in place.
Who it’s for: Players and modpack makers who switch Minecraft versions and want custom option entries to survive while a mod is absent. The mod changes only the client, so servers do not need it.
How it compares
ModCheck is a Fabric mod for 1.20.1 with an environment of client and server, released under the MIT License and open source. Eclipthar`s Xaero Force Block Mod is a client-side Fabric mod for 1.21.8 under the MIT License, but it is not open source. Remember My Txt, by contrast, is client-side only and is open source under the MIT License.

Imagine you have a custom option called key_gui.xaero_toggle_waypoints in the options file. This option, along with many others, is usually handled by Minecraft if you have the fabric mod Xaero's Minimap installed. The problem is when you don't have the mod on for even a single launch of Minecraft, the options.txt…
