RawInput Mod(鼠标原始输入)

by QZXiao

RawInput Mod, also written 鼠标原始输入, swaps the standard Windows mouse reading for raw input through Minecraft's built-in JInput system.

ForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.4.5 – 1.8.9

What it does

Minecraft normally reads the mouse through the operating system, which can add a delay and a stutter to camera movement. RawInput reads the device data directly through JInput instead, which is the input library Minecraft already uses. The change targets older builds where players with modern high-DPI or high-performance mice have reported jittery, slow camera turns.

The mod runs on Forge and only the client needs it, so servers do not have to install anything for it to take effect. The author lists eight release versions covering 1.4.5, 1.4.6, 1.4.7, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.6.4, 1.7.10 and 1.8.9, and the latest Forge file is 1.0 for 1.5.2, published on 2026-02-20. The first file appeared on 2026-02-17. The code is released under the MIT License but is not open source in the sense the catalog uses for that label.

Key features

  1. Raw mouse input

Camera and cursor movement come from the device's raw reports rather than the operating system's processed values.

  2. Smoother camera turns

The author describes the goal as more responsive and natural camera movement with high-performance mice.

  3. Reduced stutter

The change is aimed at the input lag and stutter that older Minecraft versions show on modern hardware.

  4. Built on JInput

Input is read through the JInput library that Minecraft already ships, so no separate input driver is added.

Use cases

Older builds on modern mice

Players who run 1.8.9 or an earlier version on a high-DPI mouse can try RawInput to reduce camera jitter.

Windows gaming setups

The author notes the mod is aimed at Windows, where the standard mouse path is the one being replaced.

Who it’s for: Players on Forge who use high-DPI or high-performance mice with older Minecraft builds, and who notice lag or jitter in camera movement.

Questions

Does RawInput Mod need to be on the server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Which Minecraft versions does RawInput Mod support?

The author lists eight release versions, including 1.4.6, 1.4.7, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.6.4 and 1.7.10, with 1.8.9 as the newest.

Is the RawInput Mod available for newer Minecraft versions?

The catalog lists Forge files only up to 1.8.9, and the latest file is 1.0 for 1.5.2, so newer builds are not covered by this entry.

In the catalog

RawInput Mod(鼠标原始输入) is one of 3,545 Optimization mods on ModsFinder, and one of 1,441 Optimization mods for Forge. 955 mods support Minecraft 1.8.9.

What the author says

Description: Vanilla Minecraft (especially older versions like 1.12 and below) can experience input lag or stuttering when using high-DPI or high-performance mice on Windows. RawInput fixes this by using Minecraft’s built-in JInput system to read raw mouse input, providing smoother and more responsive camera…
