Races (Fantasy Races)
by evilonesw
Races gives each player a fantasy race that changes movement, mining, combat and resistance, chosen from a menu in the world.
What it does
The datapack adds more than ten races, among them Dwarf, Elf, Enderman, Mermaid and Harpie, with Chicken, Zombie, Creeper and Ghost also listed. Each race brings its own passive and non-passive abilities alongside weaknesses, so a choice trades strengths against drawbacks. A Dwarf mines faster and has toggleable night vision, while an Elf gains a larger step height and faster jumping.
Powers are obtained by punching a mob that gives a one-time use book, which lets the player pick a race. Admin users can open an admin book in a world with cheats enabled to make multiple power selections. The evrace menu, opened through the datapack menu, toggles racial abilities and settings, and the races:uninstall function removes the datapack.
The datapack runs on a server, and the server has to have it installed. Players can join the server without it, so the client side is optional. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with 1.0 as the single release for game version 1.21.7, and the mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, so it is not open source. It also appears as a data pack for server platforms.
