Private Area

by TouchTheGrassMan

Private Area is a region protection mod that lets players and administrators claim chunks as protected regions from inside the game, without a server plugin layer.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Regions are built from selected chunks. A special item called the Region Wand marks the chunks, and after selection the player registers the region and manages it through a graphical interface. Protection covers breaking and placing blocks, interacting with containers and mechanisms, and changing protected territory, so unauthorized players are kept out. Region members and co-owners can interact with the region, and co-owners help manage it.

The project was inspired by territory protection systems common on Minecraft servers, and it takes a different approach from WorldGuard. Most protection tools for Bukkit, Spigot or Paper arrive as plugins. Private Area is a mod instead, aimed at modded servers that often run hybrid cores and would otherwise need extra compatibility layers. The goal is a setup that installs directly into a modded server and is managed through in-game tools. Installation is kept simple, and the configuration is kept simple too.

The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.20.1 only. Environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it, and the code is not open source; the license is All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Region Wand selection

Chunks are marked with a Region Wand item, with region selection modes to choose the area before it is registered.

  2. Graphical region management

A graphical interface lets the owner register a selected region and manage its rules, members and co-owners in game.

  3. Visible chunk borders

Region borders are shown as visual chunk outlines, so players can see where a protected area starts and ends.

  4. Configurable protection rules

Rules cover breaking and placing blocks, interacting with containers and mechanisms, and region-specific actions without permission.
