Post It!

by brothers_trouble

Post It! lets players place sticky notes into the world as entities, each one holding written text that can be dyed and styled.

What it does

Post It! adds sticky notes that can be placed on surfaces in the world. A note is made by right-clicking paper with shears in the inventory, and bulk crafting is supported so several notes can be produced at once. Notes are rendered as entities, which keeps a large number of them from weighing heavily on the game; the mod is written to avoid lag even when hundreds of notes sit within entity distance of each other.

Notes can be dyed with leather armor, and a single dye or a mix of several dyes gives the note a color. The palette described by the author reaches far beyond the standard dye colors. Text can be changed in color and made to glow, and dynamic text sizing keeps longer messages readable from outside the note's interface. Set advancements are included to help a player get started, along with instructions for the first notes. The mod is published for NeoForge only, for Minecraft 1.21.1, with version 1.1.0 as the latest file in the beta channel, and it runs on client and server.

  3. Dyeing and glowing text

  4. Dynamic text sizing

Text is scaled to fit the note, keeping longer messages legible when viewed from a distance.
