PlayerDeathPlus

by trevorbrunette

PlayerDeathPlus changes what happens when a player dies on a NeoForge server, with several configurable outcomes to choose from.

NeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 1.21.4

What it does

The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it and only the server needs the jar. It offers a few configuration options that decide how player deaths are handled, and a default option applies when none is changed. Its files target 1.21.1 – 1.21.4, with 0.1.1 for 1.21.4 as the newest release, published on 2024-12-18.

Each death can ban the player for a set number of hours or permanently, and the killer receives the victim's head, which drops alongside the player's items. Right-clicking that head lifts the ban, and a death can also switch the player to spectator mode or apply an effect. The source code is open and released under the MIT License, and an issue tracker is linked from the project.

Key features

  1. Timed or permanent bans

A death bans the player for a chosen number of hours, or permanently if the server sets it that way.

  2. Killer receives the head

The player who killed the victim gets the victim's head, and that head drops with the items on death.

  3. Unban by head

Right-clicking a dropped head removes the ban on the player it belongs to.

  4. Spectator mode and effects

A death can move the player into spectator mode or apply a status effect, depending on server settings.

Use cases

Hardcore-style servers

Server owners who want deaths to carry lasting consequences can use bans or spectator mode.

Event servers

A server running timed challenges can apply short bans so a lost round has a set cost.

Who it’s for: Server owners running NeoForge who want a configurable death penalty. Players on those servers need no installation.
