Pieced — Chunk Loaders
by bluffcon
Pieced — Chunk Loaders lets a player set up chunk loaders that keep areas active, with upgrades, a global alert and a way to view chunk borders.
What it does
A chunk loader must be activated after it is placed before it keeps the surrounding chunks loaded. The basic version loads a single chunk, a 3x3 upgrade covers a larger area, and a 5x5 version sends a global message to players whenever it is picked up. Higher tiers are built by crafting with a Nether Star, Deepslate Tiles, gold ingots or glass, and an upgraded loader keeps its previous upgrades when it is picked up and placed again.
Loaders can be thrown to activate them, and picking up an active loader stops it working. Players can burn a chunk loader by placing fire on it with flint and steel or a fire charge. Mob farms are supported in a limited way, since mobs do not spawn unless a player is nearby. To inspect the loaded area, the chunk borders can be shown by pressing F3 + G.
Pieced runs on the server, so server owners install it and players may join without it. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a data pack variant is also available. Files cover 1.21.5 – 1.21.10 and the latest build for each loader is 1.2.1 for 1.21.10. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features
Activated chunk loaders
A placed loader stays inactive until it is activated, then keeps its chunks loaded.
Three loading tiers
Basic 1x1, 3x3 and 5x5 loaders, with each higher tier crafted from the previous one.
Global pickup alert
The 5x5 loader sends a global message to players when it is picked up.
Upgrades kept on pickup
A loader keeps its upgrades when it is picked up and placed again, and cannot be reactivated once it is upgraded to a higher tier.
