Phayriosis:Cataclysm is a Forge add-on that adds a world-scale infection system, with a shared stage counter running from 1 to 10 and spread through terrain and mobs.
What it does
Infected mobs take in biomass whenever they kill living creatures, among them vanilla monsters, livestock, villagers and players. One infection level is kept for the whole world, and its biomass total is saved with the world and sent to players. As biomass accumulates, the infection moves to later levels, and each higher level brings harsher behavior. Infected mobs grow more aggressive, tougher and better at working together the longer the outbreak lasts.
Rather than piling on extra enemies, the mod gives the infection new ways to travel. It pulses into neighboring blocks and turns the ground into flesh, roots and tendrils, and it also creeps underground through Deep Roots. Villages, crop fields, rivers, caves and walled compounds can all end up caught in an outbreak. Duration and spread radius are set in the common config file, which controls most of the mod's systems. The mod requires Cataclysm, and the Phayriosis Reborn add-on is listed as working with it.

Global infection levels
A single world-wide infection level climbs from 1 to 10 as biomass builds up through combat and killings.
Terrain conversion
Infection pulses into nearby blocks and converts them into flesh, roots and tendrils, and it spreads underground via Deep Roots.
Adaptive infected mobs
At high levels, infected mobs merge into stronger forms, adapt to repeated damage patterns and sometimes disguise themselves as ordinary creatures.
Spore Artillery Towers
Spore Artillery Towers are structures that act as biological bombardment sites during an outbreak.
Infection Core on death
A death caused by the infection leaves an Infection Core at the spot where the player fell, a lasting consequence.
