OreFix

by Beyond

OreFix changes how ores generate in the world, reshaping where and how they appear in the terrain.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT License1.18 – 1.21.11

What it does

Ore generation is the mod's main job: it rewrites where ores spawn, so they show up only in the places the author set. Ore placement is tuned to sit next to air and water, and ores can also replace dirt, gravel, tuff and similar blocks in the terrain. The author notes that this reduces the value of X-ray strip mining, and that it encourages players to explore caves naturally.

The mod runs on the server and is required there, while clients may leave it out. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, plus a data pack option, covering 1.18 – 1.21.11. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Ore generation overhaul

Ore placement is reworked across the world, changing which blocks ores are allowed to replace.

  2. Placement next to air and water

Ores are tuned to spawn beside open air or water rather than deep inside solid stone.

  3. Varied host blocks

Ores can spawn inside dirt, gravel, tuff and other terrain blocks, not only stone.

What the author says

Ore rates have been tweaked and ore only spawns next to air and water. Ore now spawns in other blocks such as dirt, grave, graite, tuff, etc. This pack makes X-Ray and strip mining almost obsolete. This pack promotes natural cave exploration as the game should.
