Offline Mode Fix
by louiszn
Offline Mode Fix addresses chat lag, unverified-server warnings and missing player heads on offline-mode Minecraft servers, for clients that join them.
What it does
On a client connected to an offline-mode server, the mod reduces chat lag by skipping player blocklist checks, which are the source of lag spikes. It also cuts down the Unverified Server warnings a client shows when joining. A first-join toast message and its tag indicator can be hidden, and player heads are restored in the player list.
The mod reimplements a few features that normally belong to online-mode, such as player heads, and makes the offline-mode client behave more like one. Most features are set in-game through Mod Menu. An option named overrideOnlineModeBehavior controls part of this behavior, and enabling it is only needed in specific cases because it can cause unexpected behavior. The mod is built to leave online-mode servers unaffected, so it can stay installed when connecting to them.
Only the client needs the mod. Fabric API is required, and the mod runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.20 – 26.3 with 24 release versions covered. The latest Fabric build is 1.1.0+26.3 for 26.3, published 2026-10-14. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Reduced chat lag
Skipping player blocklist checks removes the lag spikes that appear in chat on offline-mode servers.

Warnings shown when a client joins an unverified server are reduced, so the join screen is less cluttered.
Restored player heads
Player heads come back in the player list, a feature that normally needs online-mode authentication.

Use cases
Playing on offline-mode servers
A player who joins a community server without authentication can keep chat responsive and see player heads in the list.
Keeping one client for mixed servers
Because the mod leaves online-mode servers unaffected, a player can keep it installed and connect to both kinds of server.
Who it’s for: Players who connect to offline-mode Minecraft servers with the Fabric loader. Server owners do not need to install anything, since the mod is client-side only.
